What attracted you to the CEO Dare to Cure?
I was introduced to this fantastic event by a very inspiring CEO, Chris Dutton from The CEO Magazine. Once hearing about it, I was in! Not only is children’s cancer research something I am very passionate about, I am also quite the daredevil. I love to challenge myself!

What motivates you to support childhood cancer research through Children’s Cancer Institute?
As a pre-eminent business woman and CEO, I am constantly asked to support causes. Each has merit and I wish I could support everyone who comes to me, however, this is not possible. What motivated me to help bring attention to Children’s Cancer Institute was how it’s leading the world in how children with cancer are being treated. I am proud that this groundbreaking research is being done here in Australia and I believe that, by supporting Children’s Cancer Institute, not only are we changing lives but we are also creating an incubator for some of Australia’s brightest medical minds to flourish.

What are you looking forward to about CEO Dare to Cure?
I always enjoy being surrounded by like-minded people, so I am excited to meet the other CEOs taking part. I also love to challenge myself and, while I have done fire walking before, this will be the first time in front of my peers!

As a business leader, why do you feel it’s necessary to promote corporate social responsibility?
I believe it is fundamental to our community that business leaders such as myself bring attention to social issues that affect all of us. We live in a democracy that celebrates the individual and when the individual has a platform that enables them to share these important causes it is the least we can do. I am so proud of the work I do with a number of charities and not-for-profits – it means I can help create real change.

What is your fundraising goal? How do you intend to go about raising your money?
My fundraising goal at the moment is A$8,000. I love using social media to share my campaign! Since I have strong ties to the Chinese community, I use WeChat a lot to get my message out there. I am always so humbled by the number of people who donate that I don’t even know. I make sure to personally thank every single person who donates, no matter how big or small the donation.

What would you say to other CEOs and business leaders thinking of getting involved?
Give it a go! Not only is Children’s Cancer Institute a brilliant organisation to support, CEO Dare to Cure is a fantastic morning where you can be taken out of your comfort zone and challenged! Now, if I know anything about CEOs and business leaders, this is the type of thing they love to do!
