As the governing body for golf in Australia, Golf Australia is advocating the rise of a sport that CEO Stephen Pitt says promotes responsibility, integrity, and good sportsmanship. These values are something that Stephen tries to promote throughout Golf Australia, both on and off the green.
Stephen joined Golf Australia in November 2008 after serving as CEO of Golf Queensland and Queensland Athletics. In 2007, Stephen played a key role in the successful merging of the Queensland Golf Union and Womens Golf Queensland bodies.
Under Stephens leadership, Golf Australia has rebuilt its equity, implemented a raft of programs to promote golf to young people, and influenced the culture of the sport itself. The CEO Magazine recently sat down with Stephen, who has an impressive handicap of 10, to discuss the transformation of Golf Australia, the sport, and its future in Australia.
