South American journey
Belmond recently added a new level of decadence to its Peru portfolio in the guise of the Belmond Las Casitas in Colca Canyon, and the launch of Belmond Andean Explorer – the first luxury sleeper train in the region.
Climbing aboard the Belmond Andean Explorer in Cusco you can enjoy a 2 night journey to Arequipa in Southern Peru to stay in the intimate 20-room Belmond Las Casitas. En route you can lose yourself in the traditional interiors, admire the ever-changing scenery from the observation car complete with outdoor terrace – which draws in the evening socialites once the sun goes down. Your tastebuds will be in tune to your surroundings too, when they sample the culinary creations of executive chef Diego Muñoz. Opt for traditional offerings such as corn with cheese or maybe the alpaca tortellini. You can also join a ceviche cooking class to really get the creative juices flowing.
Arriving at Belmond Las Casitas, with the Andes as your backdrop, jump into the heated plunge pool and enjoy the breathtaking views across Colca Canyon or immerse yourself in the bliss of the Samay Spa and let the landscape and treatments soothe your mind.
Hot on the success of Belmond Andean Explorer comes a one-off 3 night spectacular event (2-4 November 2017) that includes a night on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express luxury train from London to Venice or Paris. A lavish Venetian ball awaits in the Palazzi Contarini delgi Scrigni where guests dressed in custom-fitted costumes – courtesy of the Belmond Hotel Cipriani – marvel at the traditional Venetian musicians and aerial acrobats. Following a 3 course meal you can dance into the night before falling into bed at the Belmond Hotel Cipriani (which was presented the Forbes Travel Guide Five Star award in 2019).
