Here’s how BitRiver is leading the future of crypto mining

The company’s Founder reveals the latest developments in cryptocurrency and its promising sustainability initiatives.

Founded by Igor Runets in 2017 and headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, BitRiver provides hosting services and turnkey solutions for large-scale cryptocurrency eco-mining, data management, blockchain and artificial intelligence operations to institutional investors around the world.

BitRiver employs more than 200 full-time staff in three offices across Russia and has a full-time presence in China, Japan, the UAE, South Korea, Switzerland, Germany, and the US. With a vision of powering the most promising tech of today and tomorrow through low-cost and sustainable energy, BitRiver currently utilises only surplus hydroelectric power to operate the largest hosting provider that offers co-location services for cryptocurrency mining.

Runets took to the stage as a featured VIP speaker at Sir Anthony Ritossa’s 18th Global Family Office Investment Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to enlighten more than 400 of the world’s leading private investors, family offices and world leaders from 55 countries on the latest developments in cryptocurrency.

With a background in computer science and electrical engineering, including an MBA earned at Stanford University, Runets first became interested in cryptocurrency after university. He founded BitRiver to mine crypto, which has subsequently grown into one of the world’s largest companies in the sector.

“Priorities for the next 12 months include boosting capacity, completing existing projects, and building new facilities to boost available power in an ecologically friendly, carbon-free manner,” he says. “Longer term, we will make strategic decisions regarding new locations where we can focus on hydropower.”

“As cryptocurrency continues to grow as an asset class, BitRiver is uniquely positioned as a mining company that is popular with family offices as well as institutional investors,” he says.

“Mining is a great way to invest in this fast-emerging area and generates strong returns while, importantly, being carbon free and environmentally responsible,” Runets points out.
