Introducing Maserati’s new SUV, the Levante GTS

Described as the V8 of Maserati SUVs, this powerful beast is set to deliver comfort, style and incredible speed.

With the most powerful engines ever fitted into a Maserati, this elegant SUV boasts a sleek streamlined exterior and a mighty twin turbo V8 engine.
Combined with a luxurious interior decked out in full premium leather, sport pedals and a Harman Kardon Audio system with 14 speakers, the Levante GTS delivers performance, exceptional road handling and a sporty pedigree.

According to the manufacturers, the chassis of the Levante GTS has been especially created to handle a higher output to give a more exhilarating drive without sacrificing on comfort or safety.

In terms of speed, the Levante GTS only needs 4.2 seconds to reach 100 kmph and you can take it to a top speed of 292 kmph. Meanwhile, the integrated vehicle control system offers supreme driving dynamics and road handling.

Specifications:

  • Re-engineered 3.8-litre Twin Turbo V8 delivering 145 hp/litre specific output
  • 404 Kw power output at 6,250 rpm
  • 730 Nm peak torque at 2,500 – 5,000 rpm
  • Remarkable weight/power ratio of 3.9 kg/hp
  • 0-100 kmph in 4.2 seconds, 292 kmph top speed

Another stand out feature of the Levante GTS is the eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox, acclaimed for its versatility and sporty character.
Drivers will also love the redesigned gearshift lever which gives them the option to use the gearbox in either automatic (RND) or manual mode by shifting the lever from right to left.

The Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive has been designed to deliver a typical Maserati rear-wheel drive experience, updated to suit the requirements of the Levante GTS.

“In normal driving conditions, the Q4 distributes 100% of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels,” Maserati says of the technology. “On slippery or loose road surfaces, or in the event of loss of traction at the rear, the system can alter the front/rear torque split from 0:100% to 50:50% in a matter of 150 milliseconds.”

It adds that in conjunction with the Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system and the LSD, the torque-vectoring function considerably enhances the car’s sporty character. “Whilst performing a cornering manoeuvre, the system distributes more torque to the outer wheels by applying a slight braking force to the inner wheels.”

Overall, this SUV delivers everything a driver would expect from a luxury Maserati vehicle, plus the added power and speed of a V8 engine. And at a reasonable price of around US$81,000, this Maserati offers unbeatable value.
