Leica Q2 Daniel Craig x Greg Williams

Craig. Daniel Craig. He’ll be going down in history as one of the best actors to ever play James Bond but before the British actor takes his final turn as the iconic spy in his latest adventure, Daniel Craig has teamed up with high-end German camera maker Leica for a very special model.

The Leica Q2 Daniel Craig x Greg Williams is an exclusive and limited edition release of their full-frame compact camera made for photographers on the go. While Daniel Craig’s name is a household one, Greg Williams also deserves credit as one of Britain’s most renowned photographers, acclaimed for capturing iconic Hollywood moments in his authentic style.

The collaboration marks a fitting tribute as Williams has photographed Craig’s Bond since he first stepped into the role. Since then,Williams has produced everything from behind-the-scenes books and special shoots to many of Craig’s film posters. It’s this shared passion of being behind and in front of a camera that has finally brought the two names together to Leica.

“The Q2 is, for me, the perfect camera and needs no improvement. So to have the chance to work with the amazing people at Leica and my friend, Greg Williams, to create something as unique as this, has been a privilege and an honour,” Craig says.

“We bonded over our shared love of cameras on Casino Royale,” Williams adds.

“Daniel takes beautiful photos and has a great eye. The Leica Q2 is an extension of me – you never see me without one around my neck. So to work with Daniel and the team at Leica on this limited edition has been very special.”
Technically, the new model mimics the same proven specifications and performance as the standard Q2 but comes with a host of elegant upgrades that should see any owner stand out among the crowd.

Black and gold plays the central theme here with all the engravings on the camera and lens being inlaid with gold paint on a sleek black body. For the first time, Leica has also laser engraved the name and sequential serial number onto the glass display frame. Leica even went as far as changing their famous red dot Leica logo with black and gold version to make this Q2 even more unique.

Nappa leather with the embossed Leica logo is utilised as the strap and camera cover. Each Leica Q2 Daniel Craig x Greg Williams and its accessories will also come in a hinged-lid presentation box with gold lettering and a black silk lining.

As with all special edition releases, the Leica Q2 Daniel Craig x Greg Williams is limited to just 750 units with a price tag of A$9,990 (US$7,650).

The world deserves witnesses

Those who have ever wondered about the capabilities of a Leica camera need wonder no more. In its latest campaign, Leica are challenging their users to become witnesses in order to document the beauty and poetry of the world.

Less about curating the perfect setting, Leica wants to celebrate those who capture pivotal moments of history, or the fragility of the human condition through their own sensitivity and unique view.

It’s a bold move, but one that Leica believes is at the core of its name. After inventing the first 35mm camera in 1914 to allow people to share their own stories and the world around them, the camera maker is once again celebrating these witnesses after more than a century.
