From the timeless classic of Vacheron Constantin and the delicately feminine Van Cleef & Arpels to the stylish Chanel, 17 of Europe’s most exquisite timepieces were celebrated at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève awards.
Hundreds of talented watchmakers gathered in Geneva on November 9 for the 2018 awards where heritage brands were honoured for their well-deserved contributions to the evolving industry.
Evoking innovation in the 1940s, Vacheron Constantin’s Historiques Triple Calendrier 1942 timepiece took out the European award’s Revival Prize. Fashioning a deliberately vintage look, the new model oozes simplicity and elegance – reflecting original models from the World War II era.
The understated timepiece, which was inspired by the first yellow gold, pink gold and steel executions of 1942, features calendar indications and a sunburst satin-finished centre complemented by Arabic numerals.
“Above and beyond the model itself, this prize rewards the passion and the savoir-faire perpetuated within our manufacture for generations,” Vacheron Constantin Style and Heritage Director Christian Selmoni says. “The pride we take in developing watches stems from a true vocation, a mission to create beauty, combining the excellence of fine watchmaking and horological complications with the refinement of dedicated design and aesthetic.”
